ANNOUNCING OUR NEW CHAIR OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Following our open and widely publicised recruitment drive, we're pleased to announce our new Chair of the Board of Trustees: Valeria Bullo

Valeria (she/her) is an accomplished Production Wellbeing and Inclusion Consultant with experience working across diversity, equity & inclusion, human resources, education, and mental health.

She comes to the charity with a 20-year history in a wide range of high-level production experience including physical on-set production and in-house developmental work. While working as Production Executive at Pathe Productions, Valeria worked on award-winning projects such as  SELMA (Ava DuVernay), SUFFRAGETTE (Sarah Gavron) and VICEROY’S HOUSE (Gurindha Chadha).

Valeria brings experience in leading and implementing change with wellbeing and mental health within the industry. During her tenure at the Film and TV Charity, she created the first-of-its-kind toolkit for mentally healthy productions as part of the Whole Picture programme. She continues to sit on the Film & TV Charity Taskforce.

As a Consultant, Valeria’s clients have included Sony Pictures, Film London, Netflix and ScreenSkills. She is a member of BAFTA, Women in Film & Television (WFTV), and the Production Guild (PGGB).

Starting in September 2024, Valeria joins our Board of eight Trustees: producer Fozia O’Dowd (Treasurer), producer/exhibitor Rebecca del Tufo, distributor Sophie Doherty, publicist Sophie Glover, barrister Stephanie Hayward, curator/evaluator Tara Brown, producer/mentor Tolu Stedford, and producer Yaw Basoah. Reporting to the Board is our executive director Melanie Iredale.

In a collective statement, the Board said: “We warmly welcome Valeria Bullo to the Board and as our Chair. As a values-driven leader with a strong passion for behaviour change in the film & TV industry we are sure Valeria will be a wonderful Chair. Her proven track record of establishing important industry partnerships and supporting creative talent pipelines, particularly for underrepresented groups, will be invaluable. We’re excited about the change we can make as we work together towards our collective mission for equity in all film spaces.”

Valeria said: “I’m honoured to be invited to serve as Chair for Reclaim The Frame. I am deeply committed to the organisation’s mission and look forward to working closely with such an amazing team of individuals to further these worthy goals and initiatives.”

Executive Director Melanie Iredale added: “I couldn’t be more pleased that the Trustees have elected to appoint such a forward-thinking and person-centred individual as Valeria. With a background combining film production and EDI, her experience means she has a great deal to bring to the Charity, and I look forward to working with her as we strive to continually listen, learn and evolve as an organisation to meet the needs of filmmakers of all marginalised genders and under-represented audiences.”

Treasurer Fozia O’Dowd also said “I have the greatest confidence that Melanie and Valeria make a wonderful team and not only will they continue the outstanding advocacy work the charity has been doing but carry the Reclaim The Frame legacy forward into a more inclusive industry.”
