SEPTEMBER SAYS

Sisters July and September share an unbreakable bond, but their differences run deep. September—dominant and fiercely protective—insists on control, while July, often dismissed as “silly July,” is more open and eager to explore the world. Their single mother, Sheela, watches their dynamic with growing unease, unsure how to navigate their intense connection.

When September is suspended from school, July is forced to navigate life on her own, stepping into her independence—something September isn’t willing to ignore. As tensions rise, the three retreat to an old holiday home in Ireland, where their relationships shift in ways July struggles to comprehend. A series of unsettling, surreal encounters push the family to their breaking point.

Ariane Labed’s directorial debut is a gripping exploration of sisterhood, adolescence, and power struggles. With mesmerizing performances from Mia Tharia and Pascale Kann as the co-dependent sisters, and Rakhee Thakrar as a mother reclaiming her own space, SEPTEMBER SAYS is a bold and unsettling study of identity, control, and coming of age.
